Last Wednesday, March 27th, the 6th grade A class joined in with CEIP Binissalem´s 6th grade B class at s’Olivaret (Alaró) to participate in our second annual English Day. The purpose of this day was for both schools to finally meet and practise their English, all while learning useful life skills.
As you may know, Son Canals and CEIP Binissalem have been coordinating our lessons and exchanging English videos between the two classes for the past few months. Currently, we are both working on our Healthy Mind, Healthy Body unit.
The day consisted of three workshops held at s’Olivaret; ¨Needle and Thread¨, ¨Talk, Dance, Have Fun!¨, and ¨Photo Scavenger Hunt¨.

Ulrike Fischer guided the children in a sewing lesson that showed them how to create a small felt pouch secured with a button. This workshop taught the children a useful life skill that they will be able to carry with them for the rest of their lives.

The second workshop was held by Bettina Hering, a professional dancer who guided the children in mindful body movements. This workshop allowed the students to tap into their silly sides, all while learning the art of dance. Another useful life skill that they will be able to carryout into their day-to-day lives.

Last, but certainly not least, they had a photo scavenger hunt that allowed them to explore the grounds of s’Olivaret ran by Rose Pozo, an English teacher at CEIP Binissalem. This workshop taught the children how to work in a team towards a common goal. They had to use all of their minds together in order to figure out the next ¨clue¨.

The day was very successful, and the children were able to create new friendships all while sharing their knowledge of English. They learned life-long skills that they will be able to use going forward. We are excited to do this again next week with our 6th grade B class.

Alex, Ulrike, Bettina, Rose.. thank you so very much for a day that Son Canals will never forget! We will see you all again soon.
